StarSkate
StarSkate is a program for skaters who have achieved their stage 6 badge (in Junior Academy) and have a desire to continue learning how to figure skate. Skaters learn skills in 3 categories - Free Skate, Skills, and Dance. Skaters will be progressively tested and may have the opportunity to compete throughout the season.
Our StarSkate program uses a team coaching format, meaning all skaters will be taught by all StarSkate coaches during private and group lesson times. This allows for skaters to spend more time practicing under coach supervision while keeping costs reasonable for families.
Class DescriptionStarSkate classes are 1.75-2.25 hours in length, which includes 1.5 hours of on-ice time, and dryland training of 15-45 minutes (depending on the class type and day). On-ice time is mainly independent practice with a 15 min group class. During the independent practice times, skaters will be taken for private or group lessons by one of the ASFSC coaches. Dryland training assists skaters with developing the strength and muscle memory to achieve maximum success performing on-ice skills. It is recommended that StarSkaters skate 2-3 days/week.

- Aged 6+ years old
- Passed stage 6 badge in the Junior Academy program or invited by an ASFSC Coach
Equipment Required
- Figure Skates (lace up ones required)
- Warm Clothing - mitts/gloves, long pants, warm sweater or jacket
